Pantry 101

There is a list of staples that I keep on hand to make any meal planning
(especially last minute) quicker.  I remind my clients that the easiest way to know when and how to restock is to simply jot it down on grocery list when item runs out.
Very simple, but easy to forget.

This makes shopping easier because you go in with a list of what you need.
If you can stay disciplined you will not only just get what you need but spend less money in the process.
Not always so easy I know, your reading words from a chef!

BASIC PANTRY ITEMS:
-Various spices and dried herbs: garlic powder, oregano, salt, chili powder to name a few.
With spices and herbs you get to create a cupboard full of the food flavors that you enjoy.
From Mexican to Italian, French, African. What ever you fancy.

-Various healthy oils: Olive oil, extra virgin olive oil, canola oil

-Flavored and regular vinegars

- Various nuts and dried fruits

-Canned beans, fruits, tuna (other meats),corn, chili's

-Jarred salsa, dips, and ready made sauces ( I try to find ones that have very few ingredients, no sugar and are as natural as it can be.)

-Dried pasta, rice, quinoa, cous cous, steel cut oats and regular oatmeal
-A few bread choices

I find that these simple steps keep a dinner plan moving along easier because your already stocked to go.

Later we'll talk, fridge and freezer.
