A friend just sent me a wonderful nostalgic email about "Grandma's apron."
Reading this brought many memories to my mind , but it also reminded me that food evokes all sorts of memories too.
Think vanilla, chocolate or apple cider. How about cumin, onions, roast chicken or turkey.
Smells have such power to transport us back in time. A time when we were kids playing on the beach or perhaps camping. The smell of bacon, and coffee always reminds me of the cool mornings when I camp. Knowing that some great comfort food awaits to be shared with those I love. A great way to wake up and greet the day.
Remember coming home from school and the smells that embraced you as you walked through the door. Or visiting Grandma's and before you even enter the house you could smell that famous pie she was so known for.
All cultures have different food smells coming from the spices and type of foods that are prepared.
The common denominator is that we all share our food with those we know and love and sometimes even with people we know just need a place to rest and enjoy a home-cooked meal.
Food served with love and intention is such a precious gift. It brings people together to enjoy and share a meal , hopefully creating new memories that will last with us a life time.
Cheers to you and yours!!
