My very first official stage appearance happen this last Friday
(July 2nd/10) on the Global Kitchen Stage at the Marin county fair.
A wonderful chef, named Rachelle Boucher, contacted me about a month ago and asked if I'd be interested in being part of this 5 day, fun filled experience. "Of course", I said and with that I started planning what I would be demonstrating.
The theme for the fair this year is "going global" and on the kitchen stage it would be "global food" of course.
One of my favorite cuisines to cook is Mexican as it's so fresh, tasty and versatile. I chose to make quesadillas as I was able to be creative with whatever I put inside them. The recipe I wrote uses local seasonal produce that allowed the flavors of the day to shine.
The menu for demonstration was a roasted pepper and quesco fresco quesadillas with a grilled corn and jicama salsa. Sweet, savory, rich (just a touch), crispy, crunchy and delicious. A wonderful appetizer for this hot day, as the audience was able to sample what I was preparing on stage.
I can't say I wasn't nervous ,as public speaking has never been a favorite, but I knew that I had something to teach. Even if just one person took home something new then I knew I did what I set out to do.
My husband and sou chef was a wonderful support and team player. Thanks John for being part of the day and helping me feel more myself on the stage!
I had a great time and want to thank Rachelle again for inviting me and my Personal Chef self to be part of this whole experience.I look forward to keeping in touch and watching and learning from her amazing self!
For Standard of Excellence part in supplying the wonderful kitchen equipment ( and chef) and for all the people behind the scenes that made this all happen.
Great job.
What's my next adventure!!
